History

Odessa was founded by Peter Demens, a Russian immigrant, in the 1880s. At the time there was a large sawmill that employed many individuals and the Orange Belt Railway traveled through the town. With the continuous demand for new homes in the two counties in which Odessa lies, many of the original structures are no longer there.
